Articles
Here you’ll find my numerous articles containing either writing advice, or opinionated commentary pieces, of which I highly encourage you to read BLOCK ME! first before you dive into my fan fiction or anything else you might encounter here and send me angry emails. I’m giving you all of the tools you need to cater your online experience, and that pretty much lists all of my issues I have regarding the current online community, and if you don’t agree, I highly encourage you to block me out of your life. I’m meeting you in the middle and saving us both time and heart/headache here.
I also encourage you to read my FAQs, where I'll give you the run-down on how I rate my work and what tags I will or won't include.
Other than that, you have free reign to explore my writing to your heart’s content.
If you’re looking for articles pertaining specifically to Mary-Sues, that will be in a section all on its own that you can find in the navigation bar; however, I don't have anything for it yet.
As for the articles below, much like my fan fiction section, I’ll provide:
TITLE
(Status)
Other websites this story can be found on.
Summary of what the article is about.
Maturity Rating
Warnings
Word Count
Chapter Count
Rather than alphabetical order, I listed these articles in an order that would make more sense, such as reading “Why I Hate (Most) OC Reviews” following up with “Character Outlines Reviewers Will Want to Review”. In other words, while all of these articles can stand on their own, some are companion pieces to earlier articles I had written, and would make more sense to read those before reading this article. The only exception is BLOCK ME! Even though I mentioned other articles, and would have made more sense to read those articles first, BLOCK ME! being the first thing you read is important, and I believe I provided enough context about the mentioned articles that it wouldn't hinder anyone's reading experience.
OPINIONATED COMMENTARY:
BLOCK ME! |

After more than fifteen years of writing on the internet, I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t like where the online community has been headed, and since there are far too many people for me to block so I can cater my own online experience, I’m giving you all the opportunity to block me instead by listing all of the reasons why you should block me, allowing you to curate your own online experience. |

Giving Credit is NOT Enough! |
(Complete) |
Ficwad, QuoteV, Wattpad |

We’ve all seen it. “This does not belong to me,” and other forms of non-credit, and while that’s annoying, what if I told you that even if you did give proper credit with the owner and where you found it, it’s still not enough. What if I also told you that Creative Commons and Public Domain wasn’t the same, and you could be sued for copyright infringement for something under Creative Commons? Because I’m here to tell you, you can be sued, and giving credit will not be enough to save you from a lawsuit. |

You want something like Scrivener or Ulysses, but you don’t want to spend money on a program you know you won’t use entirely? Perhaps there is a way to utilize something you may already have. While this is specific to LibreOffice, you can also use Microsoft Office or other such programs to make it behave more like Scrivener or Ulysses using these five tips! |

Common Complaints on Fiction-Writing Websites |
(Complete) |
QuoteV, Wattpad |
|
I’m a member of various writing websites, and any website that has a forum, or a place for members to chat, and I often see the same complaints on every one of them. These complaints are from people who want the site to stay exactly the same, but they want it to cater to them so they don't run into writing they don't like. |

Why I Hate (Most) OC Reviewers |
(Complete) |
QuoteV, Wattpad |
|
I looked through fifty pages in the search index on QuoteV, and I couldn’t find a single OC reviewer that didn’t make my blood boil with their shallow list of standards on what makes a “good” character. So I listed every reason I hated these reviewers. Are you an OC reviewer, and do you do any of these things? |

Writing Character Outlines Reviewers Will Want to Review |
(Complete) |
QuoteV |
|
As a former OC reviewer, while I had striven to let writers use their own character outlines, they almost never provided everything I needed to review the character, even when I provided a list of what to include. So here’s what I had asked for and why. |

Why You Should Try Outlining at Least Once |
(Incomplete) |

Don't let the myth of "outlining ruins the story" discourage you from trying it. Here you'll read about different methods you can try, and I'll detail how I outlined Part 1 of Sequestered Mind, showing you that outlines can be as flexible as you need them to be, and showing you that outlines aren't stories. |
