Why "HatedLove6"?
Why, indeed. Was it my fifteen year old angst that wanted a handle with contradicting meanings, or is it a username with some mystical deeper reasoning or story behind it? Perhaps something about not wanting love to be the reason for staying in a devastating situation. You can decide. I’ve had this name since at least 2007, and I’ve never had an inkling of a thought to change it. As for six? It was my favorite number at the time, and it had a nicer ring than two, three, or any other number.
What do you have planned for updating your site?
In terms of the site's functionality and aesthetics, I have a more detailed list, but this is what it boils down to.
Top Priority: (Things that need fixed immediately) |
|
---|---|
Hopefully Soon: (Things that I can add to the site or things I'm considering, but haven't made a final decision) |
|
Hopes and Dreams: (Things to make my site more pleasing, but is in no way a priority) |
|
As for what I would like to add to the site:
- My stories, of course,
- Mary-Sue articles, along with my own test,
- embedding my Perchance random generators,
- Writing calculators,
- and Artwork of various kinds.

Do you write original stuff?
Yes, but most of them probably won't be posted online. Of what I have already posted elsewhere, I'll eventually post here as well.
How do you rate your stories?
This will by no means be extensive, but this is generally how I rate my stories. The rating that I apply to the story means this is how high the maturity gets in the entire story, period. Even if 99% of the story would technically be rated G, if that 1% is rated E, the entire story is rated E. Individual chapters will not get their own rating. I'll probably include the letter rating and the reason why in the warning, but just keep in mind that if I rate a story with the letter, that it might have any or all of the following points within that rating, even if I don't specifically state so. That said, also keep in mind that even if I rate the story as "explicit", that doesn't mean the story will definitely contain sex.
G |
General |
|
T |
Teen |
|
YA |
Young Adult |
|
M |
Mature |
|
E |
Explicit |
Everything in the Mature rating, but much more extreme, visceral, gratuitous and graphic. Doesn’t shy away from any of it. |
What sort of tags will you include?
By no means is this list extensive, and this is just my personal rule of thumb. I’m considered more of a minimalist, when it comes to “tagging”, but this is generally what I include:
- Fandom and media (such as the manga version of Ouran High School Host Club, as opposed to the anime or live-action version)
- Major genres and a couple of sub-genres
- Canon characters that are focused on, or are considered main characters in the story
- Major romantic pairings
- Major general content warning, such as “Sexual themes”, which could include anything from discussions of sex, consensual sex, rape or graphic consensual kinky sex. Also note, I may add “dubious consent” if characters were under the influence or are under the age of 18, but were enthusiastically consensual.
- Major plot-based tropes in the story or things I know people search for, or stuff that I would search for, such as PWP (Plot? What Plot?), love at first sight, slow burn, etc.
What sort of tags will you not include?
Again, this list will not be extensive and list everything I won’t tag for, but, from my experience of writing online, these are generally things I’ve decided not to tag for. If you want to know more on why, read BLOCK ME!
- Specific triggers or content, such as consensual sex, rape, or kinks. “Sexual themes” already covers it. The rating and the main warnings cover most content that may be sensitive or triggering.
- How the story will end, such as if it’s a sad or happy ending. It is what it is, and I’m not going to superimpose my feelings on the ending if the readers don’t feel the same way, plus, I feel that this is a major spoiler.
- Dead Dove: Do Not Eat. You either heed the warnings I provide, or you don’t. I’m not holding your hand.
- “Major Character Death”. There are too many variables in how this “should” be applied, and I don’t want to spoil a possible plot twist.
- Any subject, theme, or trope that isn’t a major component in the story’s overall plot. I’m not going to put “only one bed” if it only happens one time in a short scene of a 100k worded story.
- What person or tense the story is written in (aside from Cheater!, but that’s to differentiate which version it is).
- As far as relationships and sex goes, I’m not going to tag:
- Who “tops/bottoms” in sex (if I ever actually write such a scene).
- Protected or unprotected sex and STDs. It’s not my job to promote safe sex, that would have been your health class teacher’s job, unless you live in the Southern US states, then I’m sorry you had to go through your abstinence-only education. Still not my job to teach you, so start googling.
- Pregnancy or birth. While I may never want to be pregnant, give birth, or have children, I'm not going to treat women, pregnancy, or giving birth as something abnormal or something that needs to be warned for.
- What kind of atypical relationship dynamic the romantic pair have, whether it be a healthy or unhealthy. It’s not my job to promote healthy or safe relationships, and it’s up to you to decide to continue reading it.
If you're not going to give us specific warnings, can you at least explain what your general warnings mean and what they may contain?
So we're all on the same page and I don't get angry emails about "missing tags" and how I "don't care about readers"? Absolutely!
I have five main warnings:
- Death: Involves heavy discussions or portrayals of death, or when characters and their sentience die, and they aren’t resurrected or invoked. They’re gone. For good.
- Language: Profanity, swear words, taking the lord’s name in vain or other crude or offensive use of language.
- Mental Health: Contains discussions or themes of mental health, disorders, or addictions and substance abuse.
- Sexual Themes: Contains discussions or description of genitalia in a sexual manner, whether consensual or otherwise.
- Violence: The causation of harm to oneself or others usually through physical harm, but not always. This warning will include other kinds of harm such as neglect or threats.
In the charts below are examples of what these warnings could entail. It will never be a complete list, so use your imagination on what else these warnings could imply.

Why don't you indent your paragraphs? I can't read it!
While I could include indentations in the CSS style sheet, I just think it’s not worth the hassle. The reason why physical books indent their paragraphs was to break up long passages of text while using the least amount of paper in order to save as much money as possible. We don’t have that problem online, and can skip lines to break up paragraphs.
If anyone mentions to me that it’s "unprofessional", it’s not. Online articles don’t indent their paragraphs, and favors skipping lines instead. In their line of work, doing both would be considered unprofessional, but, as someone who reads a lot of online stories, I’d settle for any discernible paragraphing, and skipping lines is how I choose to split my text into paragraphs.
Lastly, not all websites I post my work to allows for indentation, so in order to post my work on multiple sites as fast and with as few problems as possible, I stick with skipped lines.
I also find skipped lines easier to read anyhow, but, while I recognize that may not be the case for everyone, my paragraphs are at least discernible and doesn’t look like a massive wall of text. If skipped lines without indentations is a deal-breaker for you, then I don’t know what to say. Agree to disagree? Sorry to see you go? Cheers?
How come you don't write Reader-Inserts?
Long-story-short: I don’t enjoy writing them in a way I've seen people demand them to be--completely blank-slate nothing characters.
Have I written them before? Yes. I wrote the reader-insert version of Cheater! and I was blown away at how much more popular that version was compared to the original version with the OC. (To be honest, that actually disappoints me.)
I’ve also tried my hand at an original second-person CYOA/WWYFF story, A Smile to Hide, but that had it’s own style that I enjoyed writing with and hope to complete one day; however, I don’t consider that story a “reader-insert” because the protagonist wasn't blank. She has parents, a backstory, a goal, powers, personality, and everything fully-fleshed characters have. The only difference writing this character had, aside from writing in the second-person and creating multiple-choice answers, was making sure to dive deep into the character to make them relatable to the readers. As long as the character is relatable, she could have been whatever I wanted her to be.
But, otherwise?
I’d rather write canonxOC fan fiction than reader-inserts. I just have more fun writing them.
What tools do you use to write?
I flip back and forth depending on what’s more accessible at the moment.
Pen and paper if I’m out and about, or the power went out.
I created templates on LibreOffice for character outlines, story outlines, a world-building bible, and even a template for professional manuscripts (that all I would have to do is slightly tweak the formatting if a publication house has a specific formatting criteria).
I’ve also been enjoying my time on WaveMaker Cards for outlining and writing stories. It’s not perfect, it doesn’t have 100% of everything I need, but it’s the closest I’ve come to a writing app that I’d use.
If I need a mind-map of some sort, I've been using Nice Mind.
For character outlines, I also made a random character generator. It’s still a work in progress, but it has a good starting point for me to create detailed and unique characters.
Do you listen to anything (when you write)?
Sometimes I prefer silence, sometimes I put on white noise or lowercase music, and other times I listen to music-music. It just depends on how I’m feeling and if I charged my iPod. But, if I do choose to listen to music with beats and lyrics, I put on a playlist of songs I don’t tend to skip so I’m not just sitting there skipping songs instead of writing.
Everyone’s different.
Can I request a character/story/article from you?
No, I’m too preoccupied with my numerous projects to work on anyone else’s ideas.
Can I translate your work into another language?
No. As much as I don't mind more people reading my work, allowing another person to attempt to translate it doesn't sit well with me, ranging from mistakes in translations or something not translating well to not being in full ownership of it. And, no, just translating it doesn't make it transformative, so it doesn't in any way fall under Fair Use.
Can I write fan fiction/make fan art of your stories?
Yes, and you can even post them online with the caveat of crediting where your inspiration came from.
Can I make a podfic/YouTube video reading your work?
No. I have my own plans in the future of reading my own work aloud, and posting them here. It may be far into the future, but it is in my mind. It's also a concern of mine that I may not have full ownership of my work if I allow others to do this sort of thing.
Do you welcome constructive criticism?
In short, yes, but don’t expect me to listen to every single bit of advice I receive and change my work to fit your expectations.
I believe everyone is entitled to their opinions and experiences in response to what they read, and I would like for people to feel free to engage with me about what they experienced while reading what I’ve written without putting undue pressure on how readers express that. While I may not respond to every single comment, I do read them, and even if people don’t like what I’ve written, I recognize that this is just as much about fandom engagement that readers enjoy just as much as writers enjoy writing fan fiction. I may not agree with every piece of criticism, but I think it’s your right to express them. I may moderate comments if there’s been a surge of spam bots, or abusive language, but that’s really it.
If I’m ever not up for constructive criticism on something, then I’ll put a notice up, but I’m still not going to argue with people or call them rude about still sending me some concrit. It’s just a consequence of displaying something online to the public. It is what it is.
To the “update please” people, if you’ve read Things I Wish I Could Tell Reviewers, I don’t hate you, and you can still tell me you look forward to updates, just don’t make it sound pushy or like a demand. I'm not a machine or generative AI that can pump out work with a wave of my hand. That’s all.
