He thinks she just wants to play around, to have a break from her responsibility, but what she really wanted was to escape her unloving and controlling uncle, and to escape her planned marriage to a man she suspects is a traitor, but doesn't know how to prove or stop it.

CASUAL (ATLANTIS):
A one-piece that covers her skin, but is a light, flowey material that doesn't hamper her swimming.
CASUAL (SURFACE):
Once she accepted she would be staying on the surface for a long while, she purchased some human clothes. She settled for a light cardigan over a halter top with a knee-length skirt over tights with sandals.
SEMI-FORMAL (ATLANTIS):
What she wears on formal occasions that are outside of her convent rituals is a skin-tight one-piece from wrist and ankles up to her neck with some modest jewelry.
FORMAL (ATLANTIS):
Her convent uniform is her semi-formal clothing with the addition of a cloak with a hood, and more jewelry.
HERO UNIFORM:
What she wears while assisting on missions is basically a wet-suit with a hip pouch holding an array of items, such as a water-morphing handle, some vials, and emergency supplies such as nutrient-rich kelp-based supplements.

In many ways, she could be too kind for her own good, even letting those she calls friends and family to take advantage of her. That said, she doesn't feel much attachment to her uncle. JUSTICE (STRENGTH OF COMMUNITY): | While she does struggle to keep herself separate from others, it doesn't mean she doesn't have empathy in regards to making judgment based decisions. In fact, she finds that she identifies too much with people and the reasons behind their decisions, so she's had to overcompensate by studying the laws and weighing principles and morals. After closely observing the king and queen of Atlantis, along with Prince Orrin and her uncle who is the captain of the guards, Kershet knows what it entails to take charge and to motivate people to work together towards that goal, however, her personality and reputation can be rather off-putting. That said, while she's loyal to whatever group she aligns with, and wants her home to thrive, she feels no ties with her community, due to her uncle and Prince Orrin isolating her, and having to seek companionship in her ocean spirit, which had been the only consistently stable entity in her life. |
TEMPERANCE (STRENGTH OF SELF): | After feeling tied down for so long, Kershet felt she couldn't let anything hold her back, which includes grudges, so she has learned to forgive most people. As for forgiving herself is another matter, limiting herself to such a degree that she doesn't feel capable of keeping promises or accomplishing what she wants; however when she talks about these feelings with others, it can come off self-deprecating in a sort of humble-brag way. Despite these limitations, she is able to plan long-term and short-term plans, and is able to keep herself on track despite any setbacks or distractions. |
TRANSCENDENCE (STRENGTH OF SPIRIT): | She sees things as they are, and doesn't take in the physical beauty in it, but she does appreciate the skill it takes to accomplish things, and strives to model after people she finds better than her in purity and morality. That said, she has a poor sense in gratitude overall, tending to not return favors. If someone helped her despite her not asking for help, she views it just as a random act of kindness that isn't expected to be returned, so doesn't. Social isolation has run amok for her sense of hope, that while she is able to set goals, and strive towards them, she doesn't set deadlines for them because she doesn't think she'd meet them. She also has a weak sense of humor, not pursuing to make others smile or laugh, and daring not to see the brighter side or to be too positive. That said, with the help of the ocean spirit, and learning about life and death, the changes in the current, and how the world works in its most basic needs, it brings stability and comfort for Kershet. |

'URI DEMETRIOU and NITZAN DEMETRIOU nee THEMISTOKLES': | Nitzan grew up in a family of iron fists, and was ecstatic that ‘Uri, a truly free-spirited nomad had returned her affections, and ran away together to travel the world's seas and oceans and having their own adventures. They came back to Atlantis when Kershet was born and had a home to raise her in, always wanting to take her with them on trips to start traveling again when she grew older, but when Kershet's gifts started to manifest, they considered going back to traveling, taking her with them, and teaching her themselves so no one would find out the truth behind her birth. |

GIANNIS THEMISTOKLES: | Nitzan's older brother, and continuing his family's legacy of purity and perfection, lorded over Nitzan along with their father, and continued to do so even after he died, telling her she had to marry someone else. After he found out that Kershet may have been the next step in Atlantian evolution, the next step towards godliness and perfection, he killed ‘Uri and Nitzan so he could make sure Kershet would go towards the path he wanted her to go. |

FRIENDS: | With a strict uncle, and a painfully awkward time being a weirdo prodigy at school, Kershet didn't make friends. The only "friend" she has is what she thinks is an ocean spirit, but is really Eingana, an ancient goddess that, according to mythology, gave birth to humanity and all water animals, that talks to her mentally, teaching her about sorcery and providing a motherly comfort. Kaldur'ahm, Tula and Garth are more friendly acquaintances than friends while she had been at the academy, and only grew distant after she graduated. |

RIVAL: | Kershet doesn't really have any rivals. Even if someone wanted the same position or thing she was striving for, she would be focusing on her own improvements without the need to compete with someone else. She also doesn't have anything she wants that others would want to compete for. |

NANAUE "KING SHA'ARK" SHA'ARK: | He had thought Kershet too weak, due to her being too human-like, a non-predator, and too young, and always belittled her. To prove herself, Kershet and Nanaue were paired to spar, and when she was able to outsmart and outmaneuver him, the spar escalated Nanue's blood-lust that Queen Mera had to intervene and halt the match. When Ocean-Master recruited purists to commit terrorist acts, he also lumped Kershet with them, despite no evidence. |

Fearful-Avoidant: They desire relationships and are comfortable in them until they develop emotionally close. At this point, the detachment feelings that were suppressed in childhood begin to resurface, and they are re-living an old trauma. They don't have a coherent sense of themselves nor do they have a clear connection with others.
SKILLS:
As an Atlantean, she can naturally breathe underwater and air, is resilient to low temperatures, although can be hindered by high temperatures, durably dense flesh, although isn't invulnerable, and is stronger than the average human due to living miles underwater.
In terms of sorcery, Kershet can control and use water in a number of ways such as shields, whips, blasts and can freeze the water in order to surf and skate on it. She's also able to use hard-water constructs in order to solidify water into an array of different shapes, such as Mera's ability to create a manta ray shield and an octopus to grab multiple people. Her favorite shapes are serpentine in nature, such as eels, sea snakes, and oarfish for their flexibility and inability to predict their movements.
Kershet decided against obtaining the eel water-bearers which would grant her the ability to generate electricity. Instead, she chose pipe-fish as her water-bearers, which grants her the ability to camouflage with her surroundings.
Because she was blessed by Eingana, she has a special connection with water where she can interpret the thoughts, feelings, and physical bodily reactions of others, of which can overwhelm her, such as if their emotions are out of control; has a homing beacon by tracking specific types of water based on salt levels, diatoms, and algae in that specific body of water; and can turn herself into water, which puts her in an extremely vulnerable state.
GOALS, MOTIVATIONS AND OBSTACLES
POSITIVE EXTERNAL: | Kershet's positive external goal is to find their purpose in life. To achieve their highest potential, which is motivated by guilt of her parents' murder, and her uncle instilling that it wouldn't have happened had she not been born with her gifts; however various distractions get in the way. I'm going to allow her to pursue this goal in the story. |

NEGATIVE EXTERNAL: | Kershet's negative external goal is the want of respect and recognition, even at the cost of themselves or others, which is motivated also by her parents' death, but she's inconsistent in working towards this goal. However, I'm going to force her to pursue the opposite, to not care about how others perceive her, in the story. |
POSITIVE INTERNAL: | Kershet's internal external goal is that they don't have a goal, which is motivated by the pain of failing. I'm going to force her to find love and belonging, either in romance, family or friendship, motivated by regret of not doing so sooner, even at the behest of others, but focusing on the end results instead of the process gets in the way. |
NEGATIVE INTERNAL: | Kershet's negative internal goal is that they don't have a goal, and choose not to help themselves or others, which is motivated by hatred of themself. During the course of the story, I'm going to force Kershet to pursue something physiological, and essential to their survival, which is motivated by humiliation, but inconsistency in working for that goal gets in the way. |
BACKSTORY:
What Nitzan and ‘Uri wanted more than anything was to start a family of their own, but, unfortunately, Nitzan was infertile. Disappointed, and heartbroken, they set off on their travels, both to see the world, and to distract themselves.
After years of traveling, they happened to have come across the end of a rainbow, and met Eingana. Eingana bestowed a blessing upon them, and the pair soon discovered that Nitzan had become pregnant. They went back to Atlantis to safely give birth. Kershet seemed healthy, and normal, and they decided to settle down and raise her until she was old enough to travel, and they would tell her the story of Eingana then.
A few years later, Kershet started to manifest her sorcery gifts early, able to swim faster than children her age, understanding how currents work and able to create them, and having extreme empathic abilities, sensing her parents' continual worries when Giannis had found them and started to continue his harassment. When Kershet had told them about an ocean spirit she hears, her parents became frightened and told her to never talk about the ocean spirit to anyone else. Ever.
When Kershet turned eight, her parents enrolled her to the academy of sorcery, meeting Kaldur'ahm, Tula, Garth, and other students. Unfortunately, also meeting Nanaue Sha'ark, who continually told her she was a bite-sized snack. After she outwitted him during a sparring match, to see what they had learned, Nanaue's anger-fueled blood-lust reared itself, and Kershet, sensing how much danger she was truly in, let Eingana guide her to release abilities far greater than she was taught, or should have been able to handle, resulting in Nanaue trapped in a maelstrom miles away and her fainting from exhaustion. Queen Meera told Kaldur'ahm to take her to the infirmary and stay with her while she tended to Nanaue. Prince Orrin and Giannis had seen the match from the spectator's booth, and were in awe of such raw power and abilities.
Kershet met Kaldur'ahm officially that day, along with Tula and Garth. She told them she didn't know how she did that, not knowing what to say or what she could say, and Garth thought her stranger than he had before.
Her parents took her home, and took a few days off from school to make sure she was in full health before returning. They considered stopping her sorcery education and to start traveling again, but Kershet was adamant about wanting to continue her schooling. Soon after, Kershet had returned home to find her parents had been killed. Giannis took custody of her since he was her only remaining relative, and was in charge of the investigation, only to have never solve the murder. Once in his care, he fast-tracked her schooling, where she graduated by the time she turned twelve, and enrolled her to serve in the convent, reading and organizing spiritual scrolls, alongside serving Prince Orin as his assistant, helping to be a healer or to read people for him.
She had no time for friends, and hardly any time to herself, and what of that she had, she spent it with the ocean spirit, learning, training, and being comforted in a motherly way, which meant that Kershet was depending on this spirit more and more rather than with the people around her. This spirit had been talking to her about escaping and coming to find her, but fear and tenuous ties still remain, binding her to Atlantis, especially since she was who healed Kaldur'ahm if he ever came back with injuries. She had also been growing more and more suspicious about Prince Orrin and her uncle, but hardly had room to breathe, let alone investigate her suspicions.
After Kaldur'ahm joins his friends for covert missions, and pretty much exclusively staying on the mainland, he comes back for a rare visit, having dinner with the royalty that she had also been allowed to attend, he mentions needing a tutor, which sparks the idea in Kershet of running away and having a break from her usual responsibilities to be his tutor, thus starting the story.
