CLOTHING:

GENERAL STYLE:

Most of her clothing is black with some hint of color, like a red ribbons or purple buttons. Her wardrobe used to have more color, but after the fire, she felt black would be more suitable as a wordless warning to other people to stay away, so she traded her colorful clothes for a darker attire.

CASUAL:

Loose-fitting baggy clothes in general such as T-shirts, jerseys, and jeans, along with running shoes. These are the clothes she stays home in, but will dress marginally nicer if she has to go out and get groceries or just wants to go get a book from the store or something. She definitely doesn't wear casual outfits at school.

Her favorite accessories are her gloves, of which her most favorite are the laced fingerless gloves with cloth buttons to keep them in place, but she has quite a collection of them. She also likes pendants, chokers and bracelets. Her ears are pierced, but she only has studs--nothing that dangles or could get caught in her hair. When she's on the go outside of school, she'll bring a nice-looking backpack, because she'll never know what she finds at bookstores or at street vendors.

SEMI-FORMAL:

Because she can't afford the school uniform, Iyo instead wears a form-fitting blouse or tunic with a long, ankle-length skirt or slacks with leather loafers. If her sleeves are short, she'll wear long gloves, otherwise, she'll wear regular lacey gloves. If it's cold out, she'll wear a hoody, cardigan or a blazer.

FORMAL:

Ankle-length dresses and low-heeled shoes with a clutch bag that has a strap or chain. If the dress is strapless, she'll wear a shawl or scarf, and if the dress is short-sleeved, she'll wear long gloves.

UNIFORM:

Due to moving twice in one year, her family couldn't afford the school uniform or the entrance fee that year, hence the scholarship. During her first years of high school at Ouran, she tends to wear button-up long sleeve blouses decorated with pleats or laces, and is usually cuffed. She enjoys straight-legged jeans, but also wears slacks and long skirts with pantyhose underneath. She prefers to wear low-heeled shoes or flats at school. Sometimes she'll where overall dresses or black sundresses. On colder days, she'll also wear a fitted hoody. All black. She carries a hand-me-down brown leather satchel bag. These clothes are also considered semi-formal, and may wear these outfits on such occasions like dates.

MYERS-BRIGGS:

INTJ, INTP

Thinking (T): a person who predominantly makes decisions based on facts, with the head ruling over their heart.
Judging/Perceiving (J/P): a person whose personality has a balance of judging and perceiving features, able to comfortably work within the confines of a schedule, and also improvise a schedule if they have no pressing tasks to complete.

BIG 5

OPENNESS: She is neutral to new experiences with a try it once attitude. Not twice if she ends up not liking it, just that one time.
AGREEABLENESS: She sometimes adjusts her attitude or behavior to suit others so that she can blend in with the crowd.
CONSCIENTIOUSNESS: She's also neutral to honesty and hard work to where if she sees that someone before her left something undone, she's not going to fix it for them.
NEUROTICISM: She sometimes shows her emotions, but only to people she trusts, and isn't also going through something of their own.

MORAL ALIGNMENT TYPE:

Lawful Neutral - Chaotic Good

LAWFUL NEUTRAL: Law-abiders to a T, and they don't let the fight against evil cloud their judgement. Non-biased and believe in organization.
CHAOTIC GOOD: They have their own morals that may conflict with society, but are ultimately benevolent and have kind hearts.

PEARSON-MARR ARCHETYPE:

Ruler - Caregiver

RULER: Has sovereignty, responsibility and competence, seeks to provide resources, harmony, and suport, and order to life.
CAREGIVER: Generative, loving and compassionate. Tends to take care of others.

LOYALIST: Committed, security-oriented, reliable, hardworking and trustworthy, and can be defensive, evasive and anxious.
ACHIEVER: Self-assured, attractive, and charming, ambitious, and can be status-conscious, driven towards advancement.

MYTHCREANTS SIX FLAWS

ADDICTION: Minor work addiction, particularly when it comes to writing her stories. She can easily lose sleep over working on one of her stories.
AVERSION: Neutral aversion to traveling. She's afraid of bumping into people she would rather not see again, but doesn't really mind traveling if it means access to research or new experiences.
FEAR: Major fear of pain. Because even the slightest bit of physical touch brings her physical pain, she has avoided physical contact completely. No hugs. No holding hands. If someone passes the salt, she has them place it on the table.
IMMORTALITY: Supports the death penalty, but only a little. She does believe that there are evil people in the world, and would make the world a safer place if they were gone, but can't deny the fact that more innocent people are killed than should be, and the justice system is far from perfect.
INCOMPETENCY: She just can't seem to say "no." This means that she has a tendency to overload her plate with favors for others, projects, and other stuff, even if the task is tedious or uncomfortable.
POOR JUDGEMENT: Makes a decision before gathering all of the information. Despite her love of research, she can be too hasty, especially about other people.

VIA CHARACTER STRENGTHS

COURAGE (STRENGTH OF HEART): While she's good at speaking up for others and herself, and does some self-reflecting, she's got so good at facing physical dangers, such as her stalker, and despite her self-reflecting, she's not very honest about herself to other people, so if something is wrong, she tends to keep it to herself, even with prodding. She often uses her projects and goals as a way to distract herself and others from her problems, but she also tends to prolong her projects and procrastinate by making it more complex than it needs to be. So she does work on things, but she's slow at it. Due to this and the stress of being stalked, she's not exactly elated or happy with her life, and isn't so engaged with her surroundings.
HUMANITY (STRENGTH OF OTHERS): While she is a generous and kind person out of morality and empathic reasons, she's not so kind when it comes to social responsibility, as in if someone is doing something for her, she doesn't feel the inclination to do something good back because she feels that these people are only doing it out of an expectation of being rewarded, which results in a weak compassionate love. Due to her history with her mother, she also has a weak sense of family love, but this makes her more receptive to friendships; however she's cautious about romantic love. She has a generally good sense in what other people think about her, but she does not know what to do about it, or even if she should do anything with this information.
JUSTICE (STRENGTH OF COMMUNITY): She has an overbearing sense of fairness from both a logical standpoint as well as an empathic perspective, which can make it difficult to make decisions, but because of this, she can be at least an adequate leader, if not a good leader. Even so, she would make a good member of a team when working as a group due to her loyalty.
TEMPERANCE (STRENGTH OF SELF): Iyo isn't so quick to forgive what happened, nor is she quick to repair the relationship, but she does tend to forget exactly what happened that hurt her if the offense was minor. She has an overbearing sense of humility to where she knows herself and her limitations, and not needing to embellish or distort her perspective or accomplishments, and some people may see her being proud of something on the snobby side. That being said, her accomplishments are due to her extreme ability to plan things out, but if things don't go according to plan, she gets irritated and plans out how to get back on track, so her task-oriented self-regulation where she completes her projects is strong, but due to her frustration and irritation, it takes a while to calm herself back down.
TRANSCENDENCE (STRENGTH OF SPIRIT): Iyo appreciates the beauty in everything and everyone, and wants to improve herself and her craft, grateful for when someone helps her, appreciating what is valuable to her. Unfortunately, she's not a hopeful person at all, so is pessimistic, but their spirituality in believing in themselves and others to bring purpose still exists within her.
WISDOM (STRENGTH OF HEAD): Ever-creating, Iyo's creativity is virtually limitless, as is her curiosity about the world and how it works. Because of this, and her step-father working as a newscaster, she always looks for articles that may not support her views or opinions just to keep herself grounded, and to weigh the evidence and her plans, so it's no wonder that she has an extreme love of learning new things and skills that helps her keep motivated when she faces setbacks or gets negative feedback. That being said, because she creates, reads, and learns a lot, she doesn't often take into account of other people's perspectives, so doesn't tend to give advice, or gives advice that isn't warranted or asked for.

PHILOSOPHIES:

Iyo believes that culture, society and history influences what knowledge, truth and morality is, that some knowledge is impossible to attain, and that not all events have causes; that sometimes things just happen out of the blue.

HOBBIES:

Writing, a little bit of drawing, some cooking, but is mostly interested her own research, especially on the odd stuff such as: psychology, torture devices, crazy ER reports, diseases, superstitions, weirdest things found during airport security, leaked autopsy reports, methods on drug-making, how to pick locks, and, of course, some occult material(the reason why her friends thought she had special powers).

FAMILY:

FUKUDA JUN: She lives with both of her parents; her step-father, Fukuda Jun, being a newscaster, and her mom, Fukuda Ren, a cosmetologist. Her biological father, Yamazaki Chieko, died when she was seven. Her maternal aunt, Takasugi Mayu, along with the rest of this side of the family, are shinshoku from a long line of shinto priesthood. Her paternal grandparents, from Jun, are retired and live out in the country. Chieko's father, Iyo's biological grandfather, walked out on Chieko when he was young, and his mother, Iyo's biological grandmother, died soon after. Chieko had been passed around from one family member to the next, but none had become close.
(Step-Father)
FUKUDA REN:
(Mother)
YAMAZAKI CHIEKO:
(Biological Father)
TAKASUGI MAYU:
(Maternal Aunt)

FRIENDS:

NONE: She doesn't have friends. Her old friends from her first middle school, her best friend at the time named Yoshiko Moto, started making fun of her, and assumed she bewitched someone, so they became ex-friends of hers. She made new friends at her second middle school, her new best friend at the time was named Shinju Nakajima, but, after the fire, these ex-friends found the story online and passed on the bewitchment rumors, which her newer friends eventually read. The rumors freaked them out and they went their separate ways. None of them keep in contact.

ENEMIES / RIVALS:

GORO KUROSAWA: Her ex-friends are neither enemies nor rivals. They just moved on with their lives with no contact to which Iyo hopes to never see again. The person that Iyo is terrified of and does her very best to avoid is Goro Kurosawa, her stalker who sent her dead things, weird photographs and poems, and nearly killed her by setting her house on fire.

CRUSH:

Koizumi Akio: Iyo's crush at her first middle school. It was nothing very special, she just thought he was cute and good at poetry. Lots of girls liked him.

LOVE ATTITUDE SCALE:

Storge - Mania

STORGE: Friendship love
MANIA: Possessive, dependent love

LOVE LANGUAGE:

Physical Touch - Words of Affirmation

PHYSICAL TOUCH: Nothing reassures her more than the act of touching. Holding hands, hugging, a peck here or there. The fact she can't touch anyone is practically driving her insane.
WORDS OF AFFIRMATION: It's always nice to hear from someone's heart how much they care, and she tries to do the same.

ATTACHMENT STYLE:

FEARFUL-AVOIDANT: She desires relationships and are comfortable in them until they develop emotionally close. At this point, the detachment feelings that were suppressed in childhood begin to resurface, and they are re-living an old trauma. They don't have a coherent sense of themselves nor do they have a clear connection with others.

SKILLS:

After her near-death-experience, she can see auras, and feel the presence of others, but whenever someone so much as grazes her skin in direct contact, that area of skin burns.

GOALS, MOTIVATIONS AND OBSTACLES

POSITIVE EXTERNAL: Iyo wants to find love and belonging in her family and also wants friendship, which is motivated by her failing to be the daughter her mother wanted her to be, but distractions always seem to get in the way. I as the author will let Iyo pursue this goal.
NEGATIVE EXTERNAL: Iyo wants to be left alone, which is motivated by her curiosity of whether or not friendship is necessary at all, but she takes too large steps to make sure of this, which only seems to hurt her when pursuing this. I as the author have something else in mind that will deviate Iyo from this goal.
POSITIVE INTERNAL: Iyo's internal goal is that they don't have a goal, which is motivated by loss. She lost her mother's favor, her home and friends, so she doesn't think she deserves more. I will challenge Iyo to force her to make an internal goal for herself.
NEGATIVE INTERNAL: Iyo wants respect and recognition, even at the cost of themselves or others, which is motivated by humiliation at the hands of her former friends, but focusing on the end results instead of the process gets in the way. I have the same goal for her.

BACKSTORY:

Ren's family, a long line of Shinto priests, were very selective of their children's partners, and just would not accept Jun, and Ren was beginning to have her doubts on her engagement as well. She and Jun had a big argument about this and gave each other a break, living separately for a time. On several nights, she went to bars and hung out with her girl friends, and at one of these bars, she met Chieko who was in the mood for company. They met and talked on several occasions, and Ren brought up her argument, but never mentioned that she was engaged still. She made it seem like the argument had happened a long time before, and that it was officially over.

Chieko said that Ren didn't have to let go of Shintoism, but if she truly did love the person, she didn't have to let that person go either. Each partner should accept that the other is different, and while some things could be compromised, some things just wouldn't ever change. That was what marriage was--acceptance and compromise. Her family should trust her to make her own decision.

These were the words Ren wanted to hear the most, and felt relieved that someone thought the same. A few more conversations at other nights at different bars lead to a night of sex, but realized it was a mistake. She should have had that conversation with Jun whom she still loved--her family be damned--so she snuck out, leaving a brief note saying her goodbyes and thanks for being a good listener, but letting him know that they wouldn't have worked out. Chieko was disappointed because he had fallen in love with her, but it wasn't the first time he had been let down; however this was the first time he actually thought he had a shot because he hadn't been entirely forthcoming with his abnormal abilities. He could see auras, and feel other people's presences. He had had these abilities since he could remember, and it often times led to being bullied, or being thought of as weird. He thought he could live with her ever not knowing and they could be happy together.

Well, as fate would have it, Chieko and Jun were best friends during college, but hadn't actually seen each other for years, so Chieko had gotten an invitation to Jun's wedding held nearly two months after that night. Chieko and Ren were horrified to see each other again under the circumstances. To play off the shock, Chieko congratulated them on their wedding and also for expecting a child since he had seen another source of aura growing in Ren's midsection--it was his way of getting Ren to reject him once she found out about his abilities. Jun, already knowing about his abilities, was not ecstatic about the news, since he and Ren never had sex. Instead of going to their honeymoon or partying after the ceremony, all three of them ended up going to the hospital, with Ren and Chieko explaining their meetings to Jun on the way, and Chieko explicitly stating that he had no clue that Ren was engaged, much less to him, his best friend. One failed urine test, one failed blood test, and one ultrasound later, it was confirmed that Ren was eight weeks pregnant. The fetus had been producing low amount of HCG that the urine and blood tests had been false negatives, which is why Ren had been convinced she wasn't pregnant after taking at-home pregnancy tests; otherwise she would have had an abortion.

Ren ended up giving birth to Iyo, and they shared custody of her. After about a half a year after Iyo was born, she stayed with Ren and Jun during the weekdays, and she stayed with Chieko during the weekends, and they all shared holidays together unless someone wanted to go on a trip, then they took turns. At around three years, Chieko realized that Iyo had been born with his gifts. She drew people and animals with color all around them, and seemed to sense someone was at the door before they knocked or rang the doorbell, for example. Chieko was excited and terrified about his revelations.

Hesitantly, he told Ren and Jun, and proved it with tests, mostly having her draw or having them observe her whenever they expected visitors, but didn't tell her. Jun was stunned, but didn't mind her gift as long as Chieko was around to help her along with it and help them understand it, but Ren was against it. After all the difficulties her marriage with Jun had already endured, she saw the "gifts" as complications, and wanted Iyo to be rid of it. She told her sister, Mayu, and Mayu told her that there might be a way through a purification ritual, but Ren ended up declining the offer, saying that Jun and Chieko would definitely be against it, and that doing so may end up costing her her marriage. She tried to endure her child's gifts and be happy with Iyo just the way she was.

When Iyo was seven, Chieko had died, killed by a client he had tried to help working as a criminal psychologist at a prison. It broke their hearts, and Iyo took it the hardest. She shirked away from any touch from her parents, as if the slightest brush brought discomfort. This discomfort worsened as time went on, and Ren had brought up the topic of trying to get rid of Iyo's abilities. Jun was horrified at the thought of getting rid something that was of a part of Iyo, but seeing how Iyo's depression had only worsened, and Chieko wouldn't be able to help them anymore with her abilities, he had conceded.

The ritual was a mix of traditional shinto rituals with a touch of hypnosis, and when Iyo had woken up after, she couldn't see any color, and had forgotten that she ever could. She had suppressed any mention of her abilities, and in turn, suppressed memories of her father, Chieko. She was still saddened that her father had died, but having Ren and Jun made it easier. They could hug and cry together at last. It was recommended by Mayu not to bring up Chieko too much, or it might free her abilities again, but despite the lack of Chieko's continued presence, Iyo still had developed an interest in the curious oddities, much to the dismay of Ren. Jun was glad that Iyo and Chieko still shared something other than their abilities, so never discouraged her from asking questions or taking an interest in unusual topics.

On one of her research binges in her first year of middle school, she met someone online, and she felt a special connection to. They talked daily and she began to like him, but she was smart enough to never reveal her real name, or area. Her father being a newscaster and all often warned her about the dangers of the internet. At the time, Iyo began to like a boy at school, and as she got to know him, she found out he liked poetry. After a couple of months of talking with the online person, Iyo began to get cards in the mail and assumed it was a guy at school, since there wasn't a name, just love poems. Confident that the boy at school liked her too, she began to hang out with him more and more, eventually hanging out alone, but she never let him know about the cards because she wanted him to tell her.

Eventually, the cards and gifts started to get weird: photographs of her with hearts and other symbols and her in a wedding dress, photographs of a persons abs, chest, and arms, more poems, but they were sounding more possessive. Iyo finally confronted the boy, but he hadn't been giving her any gifts. She talked about this to her online friend, and he revealed that he had been giving them to her. Iyo told him to stop it and to leave her alone, but he didn't. He kept sending gifts, but the last straw was when she received a dead bird, and told her parents. The police got involved and took her computer and every card and photograph she ever got from him, but they didn't get anywhere, especially since there was no return address on any of the packages. The gifts still arrived occasionally, but she merely threw them away or gave it to the police without ever opening it. Finally the gifts stopped, and her life did go back to normal, but then he started calling. The police got involved again and tried tapping the phones, but he was smart. He stopped calling.

When she thought everything was finally normal, her friends found out about her internet stalker and started joking around about it, but it made Iyo uncomfortable. They stopped when she asked them to drop it.

By the next school year, her internet stalker had been forgotten--even by the police. In the middle of that school year, an adult guy came up to her and wanted to talk. Iyo let him talk, staying quiet in case he was one of those violent types, but realized he was the stalker. When Iyo tried to get him to leave, her friends came, but heard how he loved her and would wait until she was old enough to marry her, and ran away before anyone could call a teacher or the police. Her father wanted her to carry pepper spray, and an emergency call button with the police programmed in it. By the next month of his random visiting (even at her house), the police finally got him; however, because he was never violent, he spent a week in jail. The only thing Iyo could do was get a restraining order, but it didn't stop him from calling or taping up pictures of her on the school gates.

Her friends brought up the bewitchment rumor, and since she had still been researching odd subjects like psychology and mental disorders, they thought she had convinced him to fall in love with her. People laughed and started bullying her, calling her a witch of words, and by the end of the school year, she and her parents just up and left, moving to another house. It took away a lot of their money, but it was a fresh start.

Iyo gained new friends, but kept her old life a secret. She got invited to a slumber party one night, but at the last minute, she didn't feel well and stayed home. Her stalker found her and thought that she would be at the sleepover, so to send a message, he set the house on fire. Iyo had inhaled too much smoke so she stopped breathing, eventually stopping her heart, but was eventually resuscitated back to life. When she woke up, she saw colors, and felt buzzing, and was in burning pain when her mother held her hand. She couldn't hug or hold her parents' hand after that.

They didn't catch the stalker immediately, but since he wouldn't admit to starting the fire, and had an alibi (a shaky one, but still an alibi), he couldn't be charged due to a lack of evidence. As soon as Iyo recovered, and finished middle school, she and her parents moved to an entirely new area of Japan in hopes of losing the stalker forever, but they never got their hopes up.

Iyo qualified for a scholarship to Ouran High School for Creative Writing, the start of the story.

Nothing yet. Maybe some artwork in the future.

END NOTES:

1. I took inspiration from actual shinto rituals and wove hypnosis into it. The original purpose of this fictional ritual is to help the person be whom they most want to be by "purifying" the parts of themselves that they don't want. In Iyo's case, the ritual helped her "forget" Chieko, as well as the fact that she could sense auras and feel presences.
